Taking place in conjunction with the upcoming conference, “Remapping the Black Atlantic: Diaspora (Re)Writings of Race and Space”, where gendering and queering black diaspora identities will be one of the many topics explored, these community conversations aim to connect dialogue taking place in Chicago communities to each other and our diverse experiences.

Presented by WBEZ, the Center for Black Diaspora at DePaul University, and The Public Square – a program of the Illinois Humanities Council, this three-part series is taking place in conjunction with the international conference: “Remapping the Black Atlantic: Diaspora (Re)Writings of Race and Space” to be held at DePaul April 12-14, 2013. The conference is designed to provide a critical space to remap the Black Atlantic in light of changing discourses regarding African and Black Diaspora studies and related fields, taking into account history, contemporary contexts, location, movement, displacement, globalization, and migration.
