A Road Scholar Program by Dan Haughey
Portraying a Civil War-era troubadour, Dan Haughey will perform songs sung by Illinois soldiers in the Civil War and situates them in their historical and cultural contexts, incorporating bittersweet reflections as well as downhome humor.
He will invite the audience to participate and sing along at several points. Selections include “The Battle Cry of Freedom,” “Just Before the Battle,” “Jimmy Crack Corn,” “Goober Peas,” “Dixie,” and more.
